Mismatch negativity in rabbits with acute myocardial ischemia

Abstract: Objective To observe the characteristics of latent period, amplitude of mismatch negativity (MMN) and heart rate responses in rabbits with acute myocardial ischemia (AMI), and lay the foundation for further study on heart-brain relation. Methods Healthy adult rabbits (n=20) were chosen and randomly divided into normal group and AMI group (each n=10). The model of AMI was established by using coronary artery ligation. The changes of heart rate were observed by using BIOPAC system, and changes of MMN latent period and amplitude were recorded by using American NEUROSCAN ERPs. Results After AMI model was established, heart rate decreased significantly (P<0.01). MMN latent period was extended and MMN amplitude decreased in AMI group compared with normal group (all P<0.01). Conclusion AMI can impact heart function, reduce cerebral ability of treating information and influence cognitive function.
