Abstract: In the theory of qi-monism, original qi is introduced to explain the generation and nature of the universe, which belongs to the category of ontology in ancient philosophy. The basic content of Chinese ancient natural philosophy includes theory of qi-monism, yin-yang theory, and five phase theory. However, the theory of qi-monism plays a significant role in the formation of ideology of traditional Chinese medicine in Neijing, such as holistic conception of unity of heaven and man, thinking mode of analogy, theory of qi transformation, life conception of taking five viscera as the core, and theory of kidney qi governing the innate foundation.

Key words: theory of qi-monism, qi transformation, thinking mode of analogy
