Correlation between gene polymorphism of estrogen receptor-a and hypomenorrhea

Abstract: Objective To investigate the distribution of gene polymorphism of PvuII and XbaI in gene 1 of estrogen receptor-a (ERa) in patients with hypomenorrhea. Methods The gene polymorphism of ERa in peripheral blood was detected by using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in experimental group and normal group. The distribution difference in genotypes of PvuⅡ and XbaⅠ and allele count were compared between two groups. Results The frequency distribution of genotypes of PP, Pp and pp of ERa PvuII and genotypes of XX, Xx and xx XbaI had significant difference between two groups (P<0.05). The constituent ratio of genotypes in experimental group was orderly as follows:PP:5.45%,Pp:40.00%,pp:54.55%,XX:1.82%,Xx:36.36%,and xx:61.82%. The constituent ratio of genotypes in normal group was orderly as follows:PP:18.18%,Pp:40.91%,pp:40.91%,XX:9.09%,Xx:50.00%,and xx:40.91%. The frequency distribution of allele P, p and X, x had significant difference between two groups (P<0.05). The risk of hypomenorrhea of allele P was 0.55 times higher than allele p, and allele X was 0.483 times higher than allele x. Conclusion There is correlation between gene polymorphism of PvuII and XbaI of Era and hypomenorrhea. Allele p and allele x may be the risk factors, and genotype pp and genotyme xx may be susceptible to hypomenorrhea.
