Some hot topics in life nurturing at present

Abstract: Based on interviews with experts, media research and questionnaire survey, 9 hot debated topics of life nurturing were screened. Even though they are commonly widespread, influential and believed by the public, they lack the academic research and a clear result in their life nurturing value. By adopting interdisciplinary approaches and clarifying the literary lineage and theoretical research, the paper explains the academic, health care and application values of these 9 topics in respect to their inaccuracy, inadequate usage and misconception. For example, mutual restraint between foods and consumption of bear bile for health maintenance are inaccurate, foot massage for curative treatment and excessive consumption of ginseng and Gua Sha treatment for health preservation are inadequate, and tonifying the physique forms with foods with the same forms, eating games and taking a vegetarian diet for health preserving and adjusting the five flavors in accord with seasons are misconception. The principles of life nurturing were confirmed to provide principal concepts and methods for public health preservation including longevity for the benevolent and the wise, Tao Yin to tone the body, balanced in eating and drinking and regular in one’s daily life.
