Developable changes of limbic VEGF in rats after stroke and interventional effects of Chinese medicinal

Abstract: Objective To investigate the evolution trend of limbic vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and early intervention of Chinese medicinal with the actions of tonifying kidney and regulating qi in rats after stroke. Methods Male Wistar rats were chosen and randomly divided, after open-field ethology scoring, into normal group, sham-operation group, multi-cerebral infarction group (MCI group), Chinese medicinal group and Western medicinal group. The normal group was given routine feeding, sham-operation group was given injection normal saline (0.3 mL) and orally distilled water, and other groups were given injection of allogenic embolus (0.3 mL). The Chinese medicinal group and Western medicinal group were given respectively Chinese medicinal (6.2 g/kg) and nimodipine (9.45 mg/kg) for 4 w after modeling. The changes of limbic VEGF and intervention efficacy of Chinese medicinal were observed by using immunohistochemistry technique on the 1st w, 2nd w and 4th w. Results The outcomes of immunohistochemistry technique showed that positive cells of VEGF increased significantly in MCI group. The expression of VEGF was significantly higher on the 1st w than in other time points in MCI group, and then decreased gradually. The positive cells of VEGF increased significantg in Chinese medicinal group compared with MCI group and normal group on the 2 nd w and 4 th w. Conclusion There are changes of limbic VEGF in rats after cerebrovascular disease, and Yinao Jieyu Fang can improve vascular repair and regeneration.
