Characteristics of nonlinear chaos between excess syndrome and deficiency syndrome of CHD patients

Abstract: Objective To observe the nonlinear parameters in excess syndrome and deficiency syndrome in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), so as to explore the characteristics of nonlinear chaos existed in TCM syndromes. Methods Based on principles of TCM syndrome differentiation,44 of 243 patients with CHD were diagnosed as excess syndrome(excess group),148 as mingled syndrome(mingled group) and 51 as deficiency syndrome(deficiency group). Each patient underwent 24 h dynamic electrocardiogram (Holter). Correlation dimention(CD) , complexity(Comp) and approximate entropy(ApEn)were calculated relied on the data obtained from Holter to find out the difference of these parameters in all three groups. Results Except for CD in excess group was less than mingled group, the values of CD, Comp and ApEn had a feature in common with the highest in excess group, medium in mingled group and lowest in deficiency group. Conclusion Nonlinear analysis, as a new methodology, can be introduced into TCM syndrome differentiation
