Comparing textual variance in three versions of Basic Questions*

Abstract: This paper selects three important versions of Basic Questions (Sù Wèn, 素问). They are Gu Congde version in Ming Dynasty, Dushutang version in Yuan Dynasty, and Gulinshutang version in Yuan Dynasty. A comparative study was conducted to analyze the variance of texts in the different versions. Textual variance was categorized into three types and explained with examples from the texts, This study could promote better understanding of text meaning, and provide more reference for the further study on textual variance in Suwen.
