Abstract: Objective To observe symptoms and changes in sleep quality before and after moxibustion on Xinshu (BL15), Neiguan (PC6), Danzhong (RN17), Zhongwan (RN12), Zusanli (ST36) in clopidogrel-resistant patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods The project planned to enroll 100 patients in total. In this trial study, 30 CHD patients with clopidogrel resistance and insomnia have been enrolled. All patients filled in the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scale by themselves and recorded accompanying symptoms of coronary heart disease that caused physical discomfort during the past one month. For each treatment session, the operation sequence of“back to belly, top to bottom” was followed. Moxibustion was perforned first on the bilateral Xinshu (BL75) points, then on the Neiguan (PC6) points and Danzhong (RN17) points, and then on Zhongwan (RN12) points, finally on bilateral Zusanli (ST36) acupoints. PSQI scores before and after the treatment were collected. Complications of coronary heart disease were also evaluated. Results PSQI scores significantly improved (P<0.05) both at 2 weeks and 4 weeks after the treatment. CHD related symptoms were also alleviated. Conclusion Moxibustion can significantly improve insomnia and relieve the symptoms of coronary heart disease. It could benefit the prognosis and recovery of CHD patients.
