Objective To discuss the protective mechanism of electroacupuncture in rats after spinal cord injure(SCI).Methods All rats were randomly divided into the model group
blank group
medicinal group and electroacupuncture group. The model of SCI was established by using the modified Allen’s method. The injured spinal tissue was taken after 6 hours
1 day and 7 days respectively for extracting total RNA.The expressions of notch1 and ps1 mRNA were detected by using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results The expressions of notch1 and ps1 mRNA all decreased significantly in the electroacupuncture group and medicinal group after SCI for 6 hours
1 day and 7 days.Compared with the model group
the expressions of notch1 and ps1 mRNA decreased in the medicinal group and electroacupuncture group(P<0.05).The comparison between the medicinal group and electroacupuncture group showed that the expressions of notch1 and ps1 mRNA were higher a little in the electroacupuncture group but without significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Notch signal passway plays a very important role in the growth
development
differentiation and apoptosis of cells. The activation of notch signal can irreversibly accelerate NSC differentiation to gliacytes.Electroacupuncture has a significant inhibitory effect on the expressions of notch1 and ps1 after SCI.
